Lukas Eschbach is the head of the materials division. In addition, he is responsible for the marketing activities of the whole RMS Foundation. He is the deputy of the managing director and is member of the executive board. After his studies in materials engineering at the ETH Zurich, which he finished in 1994, he worked as an assistant at the Institute of Metallurgy of the ETH. In 1997, he concluded his work on the optimization of mechanical properties of aluminium alloys, and was awarded his doctor’s degree in technical sciences. Subsequently, he started to work for the Dr Robert Mathys Foundation. During the years 2005 to 2008, Lukas Eschbach was a part time student in Business Administration at the Management Center of the Bern University of Applied Sciences. He concluded these studies with the degree of an Executive MBA in Innovation Management. Apart from his management tasks, Dr Eschbach actually works on materials related issues. He is involved in consulting of customers and partners and is a co-worker in various research projects. He is interested in questions on metals, polymers, ceramics, and composite materials. Primary aspects of concern are the mechanical properties (strength, fatigue resistance, toughness, etc.), corrosion, wear, surfaces, and coatings.
