Thomas Imwinkelried is a material scientist and engineer graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). After completing his PhD in 1993, he has been working in industry for almost 20 years (Alusuisse, Synthes). He gained experience in product development and project management with the development of titanium foam implants and the research on biodegradable metals. Besides these materials, his key competencies encompass processes (powder metallurgy, coating, casting) and biomedical technology (osteosynthesis, pre-clinical testing). In 2014, he joined the RMS Foundation as senior scientist in the materials group.
