Stavroula G. Mougiakakou received the Diploma and the Ph.D. degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 1997 and 2003, respectively.
From 2003 to 2005, she was with the Greek Ministry of Public Order as Special Consultant in computational decision support systems. In 2005, she joined the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems - NTUA (ICCS – NTUA), as a senior Research Scientist until 2008. Since 2008 she has been Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Bern and Technical Head of the Diabetes Technology Research Group at the ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research. Her current research interests include external artificial pancreas, modeling and simulation of glucose-insulin metabolism, physiological control systems, medical decision support systems, artificial intelligence, machine vision techniques, e- and m-Health for diabetes management. She has published more than 70 papers in international scientific journals, book chapters, and conferences and held one patent. She has been involved as technical project manager in several European and Greek funded R&D projects in the area of biomedical engineering.
Dr. Mougiakakou is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Swiss Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
