Dr. Simon Milligan
Dr Simon Milligan has taught scientific writing at the Universities of Bern and Zurich and at the ETH in Zurich since 2007. He also has over 10 years’ experience as an academic editor in a range of social and natural sciences. He gained his PhD from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland in 2006 and augmented this with a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching English for Specific Purposes from Macquarie University in Australia in 2010. He has developed a number of writing courses tailored to the needs of particular fields, including neurosciences, psychology, evolutionary biology, computer science, biochemistry, chemistry, and applied mathematics. His interests include genre analysis, contrastive rhetoric, the use of authentic materials, and writing assessment.
