Dr. Andreas Zumbühl

Acthera Therapeutics AG

Andreas Zumbühl holds an MSc and PhD in organic chemistry from the ETH Zurich. From 2004-2008 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of biomedical engineering and at the Biozentrum in Basel in Biophysics. From 2008 on he had his independent research group in Geneva and then Fribourg in the field of synthetic phospholipids. These materials have unique biophysical properties and allow to control the physics of phospholipid liposomes (akin to nanometer-sized soap bubbles). In 2019 he decided to translate the gained knowledge into a drug product for the benefit of patients and co-funded the biotechnology start-up Acthera Therapeutics AG. Andreas Zumbühl is currently the Chief Scientific Officer of Acthera Therapeutics.
