Andreas Haeberlin, MD, PhD, is a senior research associate at the ARTORG Institute, Cardiovascular Engineering, at the University of Bern. He finished his studies in human medicine in 2009 and obtained his MD degree with his work on the relevance of new-onset atrial fibrillation in patients with chronic heart failure. He obtained a PhD degree at the University of Bern in 2014 where he performed research on long-term esophageal ECG for heart rhythm monitoring (biomedical engineering). In parallel, he got a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in applied mathematical statistics. Andreas Haeberlin is trained in internal medicine and cardiology with a special focus on clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is now working at the Department of Cardiology, Bern University Hospital, Switzerland. He holds lectures in basic electrophysiology and cardiovascular technology at the University of Bern.
His main research interests comprise novel approaches for the detection and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. In particular, his research focuses on new technologies for batteryless and leadless cardiac pacing, as well as esophageal electrocardiography.
